Both our Tomball and Cypress locations provide before and after school care to many local elementary schools. Before school, the children have a chance to eat breakfast and play a variety of games, puzzles and arts & crafts activities. After school, the children receive a snack, have time to work on their homework and then have a chance to play outdoors or in a variety of indoor centers. Some days we have organized activities and on other days they will have “free time” to decide what they would like to do.
On days that the elementary schools are closed (including Winter and Spring Breaks), the school agers will often have the opportunity to participate in off-site field trips to places such as bowling, movies, rock climbing, museums and other kid friendly activities. There are separate field trip charges which are posted prior to the field trip.
The school age classrooms have their own large playgrounds that include climbing structures, swings and a basketball hoop. There is also a large open field for football and soccer. Additionally, at Tomball the elementary age children use the gym on rainy and hot days to take advantage of additional play and learning experiences including soccer, dodgeball and jump rope. During the summer and holiday weeks, the children often engage in team activities like relays, soccer, basketball or sack races.
At our Cypress location, the elementary age children also participate fully in the planting of the vegetable garden and their teachers take them through the garden on a regular basis to look at the growth and participate in the harvesting of vegetables. The children will often take home vegetables that they helped harvest.
The school age children also organize an annual carnival for the younger kids and they get to “work” the games and food stations (sno-cones, popcorn, pickles, etc.). Leading up to the carnival, the school age children create poster boards, develop the rules for the games and determine the prize structure for each game.
