Summer Camp Program
Our summer camp program is designed for children who have already completed Kindergarten through 12 years of age. The Summer camp program is a combination of offsite and on-site field trips, arts & crafts, games, sports and other exciting adventures for the children.
Each day your child will dive into an exciting world of art and crafts, music and cooking activities. They will also take fun and educational trips one to two times a week to places that include: Museums, laser-tag, bowling, skating, rock-climbing, movies, nearby parks and splash pads, and so much more.
The cooking projects are designed to introduce new and healthy foods to the childrens’ diets including as many vegetables and herbs that can be obtained from our gardens. Each year the children are introduced to and make Basil Pesto, Chimichurri sauce and tomatillos sauces using the basil, parsley and peppers that they have often picked from the garden themselves. The children will also learn how to make bread, ice cream and pasta from scratch.
Additionally, we seek out unusual fruits and vegetables from Fiesta and other nearby markets to introduce them to the children and to get them to try foods that they may have never eaten previously.
The children also work on longer term, detailed art projects that take days/weeks to complete and often result in an art show at the end of the summer for the parents to attend. This artwork is then displayed throughout the school until the following summer.
The school age children also organize an annual end of summer carnival for the younger kids and they get to “work” the games and food stations (sno-cones, popcorn, pickles, etc.). Leading up to the carnival, the school age children create poster boards, develop the rules for the games and determine the prize structure for each game. This is one of the most highly anticipated events each year.
